Section23 Films

Section23 Films is a producer and distributor of Japanese animation and live action movies in North America and the United Kingdom. They wanted a site that would heavily highlight their extensive catalogue of products and provide information both to potential consumers and to retailers. They also wanted a frontpage with a powerful impact and which allowed specific products and news stories to be heavily featured. The website runs on the Joomla! platform.

A focus on the product and the purchasing decision were vital for the site. I wanted to make it as easy as possible for users to find the types of content they were interested in, so navigation is clear and flexible. The catalogue features thumbnails of each product so that there is an early visual trigger, and this is reinforced by a much larger product image on each page. I was lucky that the type of content lent itself to powerful and colorful visuals in terms of product cover art.

The frontpage allows for an even more powerful visual impact, utilising the cover art of products for sub-features, but using a custom promotional image for the main featured product. Featured products automatically move down the list of products each time a new feature is added.
