About fog of eternity

fog of eternity is a web design studio. This site acts as a showcase for my work and explains my design services. It also houses my blog, where I discuss all aspects of design, inspiration and technique. The site is also a reflection of me, highlighting my design ethos and personal style.

Whether you're looking for a single webpage to give you your first online presence or an extensive site incorporating blogging, video, a shopping cart etc, then you're in the right place. I can style anything, so take a moment to look at our services and think about getting a quote.

What's That Wierd Name?

It's not just a case of wierd name, great web design! The idea behind the name is that the internet is like a fog - there's millions of sites out there, so looking for any one in particular is like trying to search through a thick fog. A successful website should be like a light, shining out in that fog. The very best should be like a light that burns eternally, always acting as a beacon.

The logo reflects that too. It's taken from an ancient Buddhist symbol of eternity, and tailored to look like a candle flame. That's what I want my web design to do, shine out as a beacon on the internet.

How The Site Is Made

This website is powered by WordPress, with a heavily customized theme, a number of plugins and static pages. It's developed using Adobe CS4 Web Suite, jQuery, custom PHP added to WordPress and is a genuine reflection of me and my design preferences.

The site was created on an HP Pavilion laptop, but only after a lot of work using pen and paper.

About Me

Hi, I'm Robin Cannon. I'm a freelance web designer and blogger with a passion for my work. I love making exciting, beautiful, creative and usable websites that engage with visitors and meet the needs of any business. I split my time between the UK and the USA, working full time on a wide variety of projects, and always taking time to develop my skills.

Experience

I've been a dedicated professional web designer for seven years, working both salaried and freelancing roles. My experience ranged from working in-house at one of the UK's largest companies, to freelancing as an individual. Even before I moved into web design in a professional capacity I've been working on design and programming for the internet since the first web browsers were around!

With a background including work for large corporations and public sector organizations I've learned the importance of working in a business focused environment. My freelance experience lets me combine that business knowledge with greater creativity, originality and flexibility. I've worked with a wide variety of content management systems, coding languages and different types of projects.
